A story of friendship and figuring it out.

Sage is an 80’s-inspired comedy feature about a mixed-race Middle-Schooler facing the awkwardness of puberty, bullying, their parents’ divorce and the social challenges of being a smart kid from a poor family in a wealthy town. They live with their mother (a half-Asian baker at a cafe in town) and their mother’s best friend, (a drag queen who performs in the nearby city). Their best friend is Sarah (who never lets the bullies get her down). The two of them end up as scholarship kids in a summer theater camp run by their biggest bully’s mother, who lets them know they don’t belong. As the story unfolds, the kids and their families learn to find common ground and grow as people through a series of awkward and hilarious situations.
